We are looking to recruit for a part-time position with the South Health Campus hospitalist group to help ensure adequate AFTER HOURS, VACATION and SICK LEAVE coverage for our regular group of Hospitalist physicians.

Our group of hospitalist physicians provide patient care through a continuum of inpatient services; seeing patients in the ER, following them through their stay on the inpatient units, and then advising on and facilitating post-acute care. Duties typically include daily rounding, regular admitting shifts , ward coverage shifts, and intermittent weekend work. The physician is typically part of a multi dicciplinary team and would be responsible for clinical assesents , treatments, tests, and consulting with other specialty physicians before discharging patients back to their primary care physicians when appropriate. This is a replacement of an existing positions and the replacement practitioner would have the same duties as the practitioner currently in the role.

The position is available starting on April 1, 2020. There is an accompanying probationary period with this position. There will be a regularly scheduled component following the team based 2 weeks on 2 weeks off model, partnered with a consistent .

Time Requirement:

Variable FTE based on need

-Eligible for licensure and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and CMPA

-Eligible for privileges within the Department of Family Medicine, Alberta Health Services

-Clinical excellence in the described role, with previous inpatient experience being an asset

-Excellent clinical, interpersonal and communication skills

-Demonstrated ability to collaborate in a team setting to create patient focused solutions

-Exhibits leadership skills and potential

-Desire to participate and contribute to quality improvement activities

-Will be required to attend an in-person interview with an interview panel and provide references upon request

Competitive remuneration through an alternative remuneration plan (ARP)

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.

Continuing Medical Education reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible Practitioner receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for three years.
