The Department of Medicine in conjunction with the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta at the Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary and Alberta Health Services, Calgary, invites applications from outstanding investigators for a contingent term appointment as an academic Respirologist /Health Services Researcher at the Assistant Professor level. A major focus on research that examines mechanisms of disease in, and / or the evaluation of interventions to treat, pulmonary hypertension is expected.
The recruitment of such an individual will align with clinical needs within the Division of Respiratory Medicine and the combined research needs of the Division and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta. The successful candidate will be encouraged (and over time, expected) to explore the implementation and evaluation of innovative care models for pulmonary hypertension patient populations in Calgary’s respiratory and cardiovascular services.
An individual with this academic profile will align strongly with the strategic research priorities of the Libin Cardiovascular Institute of Alberta and more broadly with the University of Calgary’s university-wide strategic research plan. Further, the proposed position will also strongly align with two of the university’s Eyes High priority themes – specifically the priority stream that focuses on chronic disease, and also the human dynamics priority stream (that focuses on social determinants of health and well-being).
