The Facility Medical Director for Alberta Children's Hospital (ACH) is a key position within the Calgary Zone and Alberta Health Services. The Facility Medical Director will provide medical leadership for site issues that reach/cross all clinical Departments within the Site (Safety, Quality, Capital Planning, Capacity, Budgets, etc). In this role, the incumbent will work closely with the Site Senior Operating Officer, Executive Directors, Zone Clinical Department Heads and Departmental Site Chiefs to facilitate a smooth delivery of health services within the Site and across the continuum.


  1. To provide medical support and leadership for the Site.
  2. To be the physician "Dyad Partner" of the Site Senior Operating Officer for clinical and operational issues impacting the site and Child Health portfolio.
  3. To liaise and support Zone Clinical Department Heads and Zone Site Chiefs for medical issues within the Site.
  4. Assist the Zone Medical Director on Physician Matters as required.
  5. To assume responsibility for zonal programs as mutually agreed upon and assigned

The Facility Medical Director, ACH, Calgary Zone reports directly to the Zone Medical Director, Calgary Zone.

We are seeking applicants with previous leadership experience and/or medical administration experience, and who can demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and abilities to work in a team environment

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Must read, write and speak English.

The Facility Medical Director, ACH - Calgary Zone will fulfill a significant role requiring an FTE commitment of 0.4.

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.

The AMA, through the Continuing Medical Education (CME) program, reimburses eligible physicians for costs incurred with regard to the maintenance and enhancement of knowledge, skills and competency.

The annual allotment of $2656 carries forward for three years but expires on March 31 of the fourth year if not used.
