The Department of Surgery, Alberta Health Services-Calgary Zone and the University of Calgary invite applications for a Fellowship trained Orthopedic Surgeon to work at the South Health Campus. This will be a locum position covering the practice of a surgeon on leave from September 1, 2018 – August 31, 2019.
The successful applicant will be expected to fulfill the clinical obligations of the surgeon on leave including performing surgery on currently booked and new elective hand and elbow surgery patients, follow-up of existing patients and consultation on new patients, overseeing residents and medical students and a hand surgery fellow. The successful applicant would have on call responsibilities for both hand surgery and general orthopaedic fracture care.
Qualifications include an MD, a Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, subspecialty training in hand and surgery and eligibility for licensure in the province of Alberta. Additional training in orthopaedic trauma surgery would be preferable. Microvascular surgery training would also be preferred but is not a mandatory requisite.
