Alberta Public Laboratories (APL) Public Health Laboratory, South Sector is seeking a qualified full time Medical Microbiologist to join the Public Health Laboratory as a Program Leader with a focus in Virology. The successful applicant may also be considered for an appointment with the University of Calgary or University of Alberta.

Our collaborative partners include the Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology, the Departments of Medical Microbiology and Immunology, Laboratory Medicine and Pathology, and the School of Public Health. The core functions of the Public Health Laboratory include (but are not restricted to) testing for pathogens of public health significance, population-based screening, laboratory surveillance to support cluster detection and disease trends of public health significance, specialized diagnostic testing, environmental water testing, education, and research.
Depending on the qualifications of the applicant, there are opportunities to practice in a sub-specialty environment while participating in clinical and/or applied research activities. Teaching and interaction with a wide range of learners from undergraduate through postgraduate studies, with provision of interactive educational opportunities at all levels will be encouraged.
