The Department of Surgery - Section of Otolaryngology is inviting applications to the position of General Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgeon with subspecialty expertise in Thyroid/Parathyroid surgery. This position is to commence in the fall of 2018.

The candidate will be expected to practice as a General Otolaryngologist with special interest in thyroid/parathyroid surgery. It is anticipated that the Thyroid/Parathyroid component of the practice will slowly grow with time.

Dedication to maintaining an office and general otolaryngology practice is required accompanied by an evolving focus on patients with thyroid and parathyroid disorders. Operating privileges at the Rockyview General Hospital are provided. The surgeon will be responsible for obtaining additional clinic and office space in the community and will be expected to participate fully in on-call rotation duties.

The successful candidate will teach and evaluate residents and medical students in various settings including clinical encounters and surgeries, didactic lectures and seminars, and surgical simulation.

The surgeon will support the mission of the University of Calgary and Department of Surgery by participating in clinical outcomes and other research projects in or related to their chosen field.

- Subspecialty expertise in Thyroid/Parathyroid surgery

- Completion of at least a one-year post-residency fellowship in Head and Neck oncology including thyroid/parathyroid surgery or thyroid/endocrine surgery is required.

- Candidate should have a strong academic record that includes peer reviewed publications and experience teaching undergraduate and postgraduate learners.

- Candidate will have acquired training or experience in clinical or basic science research related to thyroid/parathyroid surgery.

- A Master’s degree in Clinical Epidemiology, Education or similar is advantageous.
