The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition, at the Alberta Children’s Hospital invites applications for a fulltime position at the Clinical Assistant Professor level or higher within Alberta Health Services - Calgary Zone. The position will involve integrated duties in clinical practice, teaching, research and health leadership and offers excellent opportunities for career growth.

The Section provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary consultant care to children in Southern Alberta, SE British Columbia and SW Saskatchewan, a catchment area of approximately 2.5 million people. It also includes a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited fellowship training program.

The 141 bed Alberta Children’s Hospital (ACH) opened in 2006 followed by the adjacent Child Development Centre and Rotary Flames House Hospice. Calgary is also served by two level III NICUs and four level II NICUs at five teaching hospitals in the City of Calgary. The Department of Pediatrics has over 300 clinical and academic faculty members who are part of the rapidly growing Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. Many members are also part of the Alberta Children’s Health Research Institute (ACHRI), or other Faculty research institutes. Qualifications include an MD or equivalent, certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology, or equivalent and must have a minimum of two years subspecialty training in Pediatric Hepatology at an accredited pediatric liver transplant centre. Applicants must be eligible for licensure in the Province of Alberta. This position requires a focus on the care of children with liver disease, experience in pre- and post-liver transplant care and familiarity with the care of children receiving multi-visceral transplants; the successful candidate will also have responsibilities for the care of children with general gastroenterology disorders. An established commitment to excellence in clinical care and potential for academic research and teaching will be definite assets. The successful applicant will hold an appointment in the Department of Pediatrics, University of Calgary. and compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience
