In accordance with the vision of the Provincial Breast Health Initiative, the Provincial Medical Transition Lead, provides system oversight in the implementation of the Provincial Breast Health Initiative. S/he Co-Chairs the Provincial Breast Health Initiative Steering Committee, which guides the development of the Breast Health Initiative service and operational plans, physician manpower requirements, and quality assurance initiatives.

The Provincial Medical Transition Lead is accountable to the Senior Medical Director, CancerControl Alberta (CCA), and the Senior Medical Director, Cancer SCN.

The Provincial Medical Transition Lead will be expected to work closely with:

• Breast Health Initiative Medical Leads, North and South Sectors

• Operational Co-chair of Provincial Breast Health Initiative Steering Committee

• Provincial Breast Health Initiative Project Manager

• Dyad Leads, Cancer Strategic Clinical Network

• Dyad Leads, Surgery Strategic Clinical Network

• Dyad Leads, CancerControl Albert

In collaboration with the Provincial Breast Health Initiative Steering Committee you will provide leadership in the following areas:

Strategic and Policy Advice: Provide advice and consultation on strategic and medical policy matters relating to the Provincial Breast Health Initiative. This will include:

- having co-lead accountability for system oversight for the implementation of Provincial Breast Health Initiative Pathway, including Breast Reconstruction Implementation Plans;

- reviewing implementation issues and making recommendations regarding necessary revision to the plan or change management and communication strategies; and

- providing advice on medical/clinical matters.

- Provincial Breast Health Initiative Physician Resource Planning: To support the development of future Physician Resource Plans for the Provincial Breast Health Initiative.

- Quality and Utilization Monitoring Improvement: Ensure that standards of care as defined by the Care Pathway are developed and that appropriate metrics to define important clinical outcomes are identified.

- Dispute Resolution: Resolve disputes within and across clinical areas and disciplines.

The candidate must have MD and FRCSC designation. You must be eligible for appointment to the medical staff of Alberta Health Services.

The candidate must be eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

The stipend for this position is $41,910 per annum. The Project term will end Dec. 31, 2020, with the possibility of renewal depending upon achievements to date.

The Practitioner is responsible for purchasing health and insurance benefits.

Continuing Medical Education reimburses physicians for eligible continuing medical education costs. Each eligible Practitioner receives a $2,656 annual allotment which can be carried forward for three years
