The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology in partnership with Alberta Health Services and Covenant Health, invites applications for an Academic Stroke physician to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

Key accountabilities of the Clinical Faculty Neurology Physician will include, but will not be limited to: clinical practice of acute Stroke care, Telestroke care, inpatient Stroke care and ambulatory care in the UAH Adult Stroke clinic, classroom and bedside teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical trainees, including Neurology subspecialty residents and Stroke fellows. Clinical practice is expected of the successful candidate and may include, but not be limited to, inpatient consultation and participation in Zone wide after hours call; ambulatory care. Other areas of clinical interest may be incorporated into the role.

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to 39,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff. The Division of Neurology currently has 30 Faculty members. It provides clinical services to all acute care facilities in Edmonton, and consultative services to Northern Alberta and western NWT. The Stroke Program has 8 neurologists who deliver acute Stroke care, Telestroke services, Stroke ward management along with academic basic science and clinical research.

The successful candidate will be an MD with certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent), and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package. Academic rank will commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
