The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine (GIM) in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for an Attending Physician to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital (UAH). Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions. The University is currently home to more than 38,000 students with more than 15,000 faculty and staff.

The Division of GIM at the UAH consists of a diverse group of physicians with varying interests. GIM services include coverage of over 90 in-patient beds, teaching and non-teaching services, Emergency and ward consultations, and a number of ambulatory services including Urgent Access, Preoperative assessment, Hypertension, Thrombosis and other programs.

The successful candidate will be an MD (or equivalent) with certification in GIM with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA). Key accountabilities of the position will include, but will not be limited to health services delivery and fulfillment of the academic mission of General Internal Medicine through medical education and administration. The job description as it pertains to these areas may be individualized.

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

The successful candidate will be offered a contingent tenured or tenure-track appointment in the Department of Medicine, which is in accordance with the University of Alberta Faculty Agreement, and offers a comprehensive benefits package.

Remuneration for this position is Fee-for-Service.
