CLINICAL ASSOCIATE - SURGICAL SERVICES

MISERICORDIA COMMUNITY HOSPITAL (MCH)

Alberta Health Services is currently seeking the services of a fully licensed physician to manage the medical/surgical needs of patients admitted to the Misericordia Community Hospital Surgical Services. Although the majority of coverage will be provided to the Orthopedic units, urgent and emergent coverage will also be required to the Plastics, Urology, and General Surgery services, in the absence of resident coverage. The Surgical Services Clinical Associate role involves working under the direction and supervision of an attending Orthopedic Surgeon and the Plastics, Urology and General Surgery Surgeons, as required.

Ideal applicants will have some experience in the clinical management of medical/surgical problems as seen in hospitalized surgical patients and demonstrate an interest in the assessment and management of such patients. Also must be able to care for critically ill patients. Applicants must currently have the skills or be able to learn the skills required for this position. Applicants with Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS) certifications preferred. Education may be provided as required to the ‘selected’ applicant.

Surgical Services at the Misericordia Community Hospital include responsibilities for both inpatient care, and consults/admissions in the Emergency department.

The hours of coverage are (on-site):

  • Weekdays: Monday to Friday: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700
  • Weekends and Stat Holidays: 0700-1900 and 1900-0700

Remuneration will be a combination of FFS billings through Alberta Health and Wellness and an hourly stipend.

Eligibility for full licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta is essential. This position will not support a practice readiness assessment.
