Stollery Children’s Hospital - Emergency and Urgent Clinic

Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone, Addiction and Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, preferably with subspecialty certification.

Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, and speech language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

This position will provide full time 1.0 FTE child and adolescent psychiatric consultation to the Stollery Emergency Physicians and Emergency Mental Health and provide psychiatric consultations for the Stollery, Urgent Clinic. The Urgent Clinic receives referrals from Emergency or the Mobile Response Team for assessment and short-term follow-up before referral to other services within the community. The goal is for children and youth to be seen within two weeks of referral. A clinic nurse supports the psychiatrist to provide acute care and case management.

An interest in education of medical students and residents is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.

Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, preferably have subspecialty certification or have plans to write the subspecialty exam in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Remuneration is fee-for-service, supplemented by sessional payments for cover certain non-billable activities

This position is sponsorship eligible.
