Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist – Alberta Health Services, Edmonton Zone

ACCESS Open Minds Clinic at the Bill Rees YMCA

Part Time

Alberta Health Services, Department of Addiction & Mental Health in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Psychiatry, is inviting applications from psychiatrists with expertise in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry preferably with subspecialty certification. Our multi-disciplinary teams consisting of psychiatry, nursing, psychology, occupational therapy, social work, education, and speech language pathology provide education and assistance for more than 1.2 million people in the Edmonton Metropolitan Region.

This 0.2 FTE psychiatrist will provide services to youth ages 11-16 in an innovative and youth friendly setting 2 mornings a week as part of the ACCESS Open Minds Clinic, working along-side adult psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, youth employment counsellors and research personnel. ACCESS Open Minds is a national research project aimed at improving delivery of mental health services to youth ages 11-25.

An interest in education of residents and students is highly desirable as the successful candidate is expected to apply for an Academic Appointment in the Department of Psychiatry, University of Alberta.

Candidates must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, preferably have subspecialty certification in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and experience and interest in working with youth in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting. S/he must also be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

Remuneration is fee-for-service, supplemented by sessional payments for non-billable activities.
