The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Endocrinology in partnership with Alberta Health Services invites applications for a Clinical Endocrinologist to be based at the University of Alberta. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

The Division of Endocrinology comprises of a group of 16 endocrinologists in a tertiary care facility which serves over 1.5 million people, including the world’s largest islet transplant program, and one of the largest Pituitary Clinics in Canada. The Division has excellent clinical facilities, a Royal College approved resident training program and easy access to dynamic testing and the full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services.

The successful candidate will have an MD degree, or equivalent. They will be eligible for certification as a Specialist in Endocrinology with the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada. As well, he or she will be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) and have an interest and expertise in the endocrine management of transgender individuals.

Key accountabilities of the Clinical Endocrinologist will include, but will not be limited to providing specialist endocrine care to inpatients and out-patients (including a share of the call schedule) referred to the Division of Endocrinology and Metabolism; providing teaching for and supervision of residents and students; and playing an active role in the Edmonton Zone Section of Endocrinology and Metabolism. The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a multidisciplinary team to develop and deliver integrated care for transgender individuals in collaboration with the Gender Program, and deliver specialist care for patients with diabetes within the Edmonton Zone (at the Royal Alexandra Hospital). Clinical activities will be agreed upon in advance with the division director.

The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule.
