Alberta Health Services is inviting applications from Physicians who are interested in taking on the position of Co-Deputy Facility Section Head of General Internal Medicine (GIM) at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH).

This 0.05 FTE position reports directly to the RAH Facility Section Head of General Internal Medicine (GIM) and the RAH Facility Site Chief of Medicine.

Co-Deputy Facility Section Head of GIM at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH)

The Co-Deputy Facility Section Head of GIM is responsible for assisting the RAH Facility Section Head of GIM and the RAH Facility Site Chief of Medicine in ensuring that standards of care are being met in the division and that support for excellent research and teaching is available. This position provides support for the implementation of policies and criteria for procedures as it relates to GIM. The division of GIM is a large service being responsible for 160 inpatient beds, inpatient teaching and non-teaching teams, Medical Observation Unit, inpatient consultation service and outpatient pre-operative and urgent GIM clinics. The RAH is one of Edmonton’s largest and longest serving hospitals, offering general and specialized medical and surgical health services, and features one of Canada’s busiest emergency departments. Located in the heart of the City of Edmonton, Royal Alexandra Hospital provides a wide variety of health services to the City of Edmonton, and surrounding area. The hospital operates 850+ beds and cares for almost half a million patients annually.

The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of his/her peers.

Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and an appointment to the AHS Medical Staff.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
