Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Deputy Facility Medical Director (FMD), University of Alberta Hospital (UAH), Mazankowski Heart Institute (MAHI), Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC).
This 0.4 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules reports directly to the UAH/MAHI/KEC Facility Medical Director (FMD).
Deputy Facility Medical Director, UAH
The Deputy Facility Medical Director is the second senior site medical administrative leader working collaboratively with the UAH/MAHI/KEC Senior Operating Officer, with clinical and operational leaders to provide clinical oversight for the UAH/MAHI/KEC site, reporting to the Facility Medical Director. This position is accountable for, but not limited to, the resolution of physician-related and clinical-operational matters; providing clinical leadership, consultation, support and coaching to the site medical staff in collaboration with the Facility Medical Director; monitoring clinical practice and medical staff in accordance with the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules; and ensuring the provision of overall quality, patient safety, and patient care. This position is also responsible for recruitment and performance management of site medical leaders in collaboration with the Facility Medical Director.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety working as a part of a leadership team. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.
Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.
