Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone, invites applications for the role of Deputy Zone Clinical Department Head - Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, Edmonton Zone.

This 0.2 FTE position reports directly to the Edmonton Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH) for Anesthesiology and Pain Medicine.

The successful candidate is responsible for assisting the ZCDH in carrying out his/her duties, providing leadership and oversight to the Zone Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine. This position is accountable for, but not limited to, the review, development, and improvement of anesthesia and pain services and programs at both urban and rural/community sites within the Edmonton Zone.

The position of Deputy ZCDH - Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine, is a senior Medical Leadership role in the Edmonton Zone providing leadership support to the ZCDH (Anesthesia), contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Department of Anesthesia and conducting rigorous patient safety quality improvement. The Deputy ZCDH - Patient Safety and Quality Improvement, Department of Anesthesia and Pain Medicine must effectively collaborate with the Zone Clinical Department Head as well as Department members in achieving these outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.

The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of his/her peers.

Candidates must possess a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPSC) fellowship, or equivalent designation, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
