Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Emergency Medicine Physicians to join the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Edmonton Zone at the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital. There is 1 permanent 0.50 FTE position available with a start date of July 1, 2019.

Shifts typically cover days/evenings/nights/weekends A 0.50 full-time equivalency (FTE) generally represents 5-6 shifts per month.

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital (FSCH) is a community hospital in the town of Fort Saskatchewan, located 15 minutes northeast of Edmonton on the banks of the North Saskatchewan River. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 services offering a range of acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services, women’s health, and ophthalmology. FSCH sees 19,000 ED visits per year. This opportunity is perfect for Emergency Physicians interested in building a foundation that promotes the health and well-being within a thriving community, and as part of a larger zone.

The 12 Edmonton Zone hospitals (including Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital) are affiliated with the University of Alberta, and serve as important training facilities for residents and students. As one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is internationally recognized and is among the world’s top 50 medical schools. Qualifications

Successful applicants will have or be eligible for certification in Emergency Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada or the College of Family Physicians Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Residents who are applying must be eligible to write the appropriate exam at the next sitting. ACLS, PALS, and ATLS, and NRP competency are required. We are particularly interested in those who have superior interpersonal skills with a demonstrated commitment to teamwork, process building and peer relationships. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Remuneration is fee-for-service
