Covenant Health, in partnership with Alberta Health Services and the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology, invites applications for a Gastroenterologist to be based at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital.

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry is one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions and has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools. The Division of Gastroenterology in the Department of Medicine currently has 20 MD members and is one of the largest GI and hepatology centers in Canada. It manages a leading-edge research program involving 45 graduate and undergraduate students, over 3 million dollars in basic and clinical research funding annually and has developed the Center of Excellence in Gastrointestinal Inflammation and Immunity Research.

As a major provider in Alberta’s integrated health system, the Covenant family (Covenant Health, Covenant Care, and Covenant Living) works with Alberta Health Services and community partners to positively influence the health of Albertans through a broad range of programs and services in our hospitals, health centres and continuing care centres.

The successful applicant will provide inpatient and outpatient consultation and endoscopy services at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital, contributing to acute care coverage for the hospital with an equitable share of call coverage for the Gastroenterology service; and will be expected to participate in city-wide GI activities including, but not limited to, journal club, education rounds, resident training, quality improvement initiatives.

Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent with completed training in Gastroenterology and must be eligible for licensure within the Province of Alberta. They must have obtained the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Fellowship in Gastroenterology or equivalent. Remuneration will be based on the Fee-for-Service (FFS) schedule. The successful applicant will be expected to apply for a Clinical Academic Colleague Appointment in the Department of Medicine, University of Alberta, which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.
