Alberta Health Services (AHS) invites applicants to apply for a 1.0 FTE clinical locum position for one year within the Department of Child Health Pediatric Endocrinology/Metabolism starting July 1st 2020.

Responsibilities

This locum position will provide diabetes and endocrine clinical service including clinical teaching. The locum physician will do 12 weeks of call including inpatient consultation service per year.

The successful applicant will join five academic Pediatric Endocrinologists providing a full spectrum of clinical Endocrinology and Diabetes services. Patient services are provided at the Stollery Children’s Hospital (tertiary centre) which serves central and northern Alberta, northern BC and Saskatchewan, Yukon, Nunavut and Northwest Territories, as well as at regional hospitals in the city of Edmonton.

The Stollery Children’s Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, is a full-service pediatric hospital and centre for complex pediatric care and research. It is the only specialized healthcare facility for infants, children and youth in central and northern Alberta and has among the highest inpatient volumes of any children’s hospital in Canada, and serves a geographical area of over 500,000 km.

The division values its collegial dedicated team at the Pediatric Diabetes Education Center as well as its very experienced Endocrinology nursing staff. In addition to clinical care, the division participates actively in teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and has a fully accredited Pediatric Endocrinology subspecialty-training program through the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Interested applicants must hold an MD and must have completed a subspecialty residency in Pediatric Endocrinology, and be certified or eligible to become a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (Pediatric Endocrinology). Successful candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA).

Remuneration for this position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and will be based on the income scale of a competitive and highly successful academic alternate funding plan.
