Palliative Care Physician – University of Alberta Hospital

Alberta Health Services is inviting applications for a full-time Palliative Care Physician to join the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program at the University of Alberta Hospital.

The Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program delivers comprehensive integrated palliative care in the community, acute care and oncology facilities, hospices, and a tertiary palliative care unit. The University of Alberta Hospital Palliative Care Consult Service is an integral component and the physicians working at that location report to the Section Chief of the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care.

The successful applicant is expected to participate in the full range of clinical (80%), teaching (10%), research (5%) and administrative (5%) activities of the Zone Palliative Care Program. The position includes sharing on call responsibilities for the UAH consult service on weekdays and the Edmonton Zone Palliative Care Program on weekends.

Candidates must have an MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Completion of an accredited residency or equivalent training in Palliative Care Medicine is also required.

Remuneration will be fee for service billing. The successful applicant will be appointed to the Alberta Health Services Medical Staff. If the individual does not already have an appointment with the Division of Palliative Care Medicine, then the individual is expected to apply for one within a timeframe appropriate to stage of career development.
