The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Department of Surgery, Division of Pediatric Surgery, and Alberta Health Services invite applications for an academic Pediatric Otolaryngology Surgeon. The successful applicant will join a team of four surgeons and be based primarily at the Stollery Children’s Hospital with secondary duties at other sites in the Edmonton Zone.

Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry has been internationally recognized among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health education institutions. The Division of Pediatric Surgery includes an innovative team of over twenty academic Pediatric Surgeons who provide specialized care in all aspects of pediatric surgery.

Alberta Health Services is Canada’s largest and only province-wide health region, which includes the Stollery Children’s Hospital, a full-service pediatric healthcare facility. The facility cares for children from Northern and Central Alberta, as well as parts of Manitoba, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, the Northwest Territories, Yukon, and Nunavut with over nine thousand procedures performed annually. The successful candidate will hold a special continuing academic faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at an appropriate rank. The responsibilities of the position will include in and out-patient clinical care delivery, teaching at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contributions to positive research outcomes. Remuneration will be fee-for-service through billings submitted by the surgeon to Alberta Health.

Candidates must hold the FRCSC designation in Otolaryngology Head & Neck Surgery or an equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the province of Alberta. The candidate will have fellowship training in Pediatric Otolaryngology, as well as appropriate research training and experience. Qualifications at the MSc or preferably PhD level would be considered an asset.
