This full time position will:

· provide outpatient support to forensic patients at Forensic Assessment and Community Services (FACS), including the domestic violence program and court referrals. In addition the position may involve inpatient services in Rehab Forensic Psychiatry at the Alberta Hospital Edmonton and provincial correctional clinics and potentially federal correctional clinics.

· provide consultation services to the Diversion and Diverse City clients and team members; participate in the community on-call program which will provide 24/7 psychiatric coverage for the 24/7 Access clinic at Anderson Hall

The successful candidate will be expected to participate in weekly team meetings and provide support to team clinicians as required including in the community. There will be opportunities to work in collaboration with other psychiatrists and inter-disciplinary team members.

Alberta Health Services in partnership with the University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, is inviting applications from Forensic and Community Mental Health Psychiatrists.

Alberta’s Forensic Psychiatry Program exemplifies a multi-faceted care model, consisting of inpatient and community-based forensic services for adolescents and adults. The target population includes those in conflict with the law, offenders who are thought to have mental health problems as well as those who are legally mandated for assessment and/or treatment of mental health or behavioral problems. We have established an excellent partnership with local judiciary and legal systems, providing court coverage and daily assessment visits to the Police holding cells; as well as involvement in both provincial and federal corrections programs.

They will have an MD and must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Psychiatry, for licensure in the province of Alberta and have additional certification or experience in Forensic Psychiatry. We are particularly interested in those with demonstrated superior interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Psychiatry and are encouraged to apply for a Clinical Faculty appointment, which will be considered through a separate process with the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

Remuneration will be based on fee-for-service billings submitted to Alberta Health as well as supplemented by sessional billing system.
