Alberta Health Services is currently seeking the services of independently licensed physicians to Surgical Assist in Cardiac surgery at the University of Alberta Hospital, Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute (MAHI). Under the direction of the surgeon, the primary duties of the position will be the provision of surgical first or second assistant during cardiac surgical procedures and heart and lung Transplant. Main responsibility will be the harvest of Saphenous veins or radial arteries for conduits in bypass surgery.

The successful applicant is required to take call (unpaid) with the rest of the team and have a response time of 30 minutes or less. Regular hours of work are from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM or later. Rotating shifts, evenings, weekends and holidays are required. Applicants must already hold a current general practice permit with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta. Surgical Assisting experience in an operating room in Cardiac Surgery is preferred.

Compensation is Fee for Service.
