Department of Surgery– Division of Urology

The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Surgery, in partnership with Alberta Health Services – Edmonton Zone, is inviting applications to the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery for an Urologist with a practice focusing on Female and Functional Urology and General Urology. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty is internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.

The successful candidate will build upon the clinical expertise that currently exists within the Division of Urology. There is currently a large unmet need with respect to care of patients with female and functional urologic issues in Northern Alberta. The recruit will work closely with the Division of Urogynecology in the Department of Obstetrics. The recruit will be expected to take a lead role in the development of a Prostate Cancer survivorship clinic as it pertains to functional outcomes related to the treatment of prostate cancer. The recruit will be expected to have a role in the development and administration of the Prostate Cancer Survivorship Clinic at the C.J. Woods Prostate Health Centre at the KEC. The recruit will be responsible for the development of a transitional functional urology clinic at NAUC that will facilitate the transition of children with neurologic issues impacting voiding function into adulthood.

Applicants should have a proven record of research achievement and will be expected to apply for external funding from granting agencies. The successful recruit will be expected to play a lead role in health outcomes and surgical education research in the Division, particularly as it applies to their area of expertise. A strong commitment to education at the undergraduate and postgraduate level will also be expected. The recruit will have a central role in educational activities at the UME level and PGME level with learners in both the Division of Urology and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

The successful candidate will hold a medical degree and have completed a formal fellowship training in an approved fellowship program. The successful candidate will ideally hold a graduate degree in Surgical Research, Education, Administration or Public Health. Candidates should hold or be eligible for certification in Urology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

This position will be at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor and remuneration will be based on fee-for-service through Alberta Health Services.
