Alberta Health Services (AHS) is inviting applications from Family Medicine Physicians, with a background in urgent or emergency care and outpatient work to join the Department of Family Medicine.

We are looking for physicians interested in working in the Urgent Care Centre (UCC) on a part time basis with shift commitments equaling a 0.20-0.40 FTE. The clinic is run out of the East Edmonton Community Health Centre (EECHC), a health facility supporting a vulnerable, culturally diverse, complex population. The UCC operates weekdays from 5:00pm – 11:00pm and weekends from 3:00pm –11:00pm.


The clinic offers patients access to an interdisciplinary primary care team including family physicians, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and social workers.

Remuneration for these positions will be a guaranteed/sessional rate, provided by AHS.

On-site lab and DI are available. Clinic operations are fully computerized with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Other co-located programs at EECHC include Public Health Services, Addictions and Mental Health, Adult and Children’s Home Care and Social Services.

EECHC is affiliated with the University of Alberta, and serves as an important training facility for residents and students. Therefore, the successful candidate will be encouraged to apply for a Clinical Academic appointment in the Department of Family Medicine, University of Alberta which will be considered under a separate process through the Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry.

The successful applicant shall have or be eligible for certification in Family Medicine with the Canadian College of Family Physicians and hold active licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta.

This position is not eligible for AHS Sponsorship of a Practice Readiness Assessment
