Alberta Health Services, is inviting applications from Physicians who are interested in taking on the position of Zone Clinical Department Head (ZCDH), Family Medicine.

This 0.4 FTE position, governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Associate Zone Medical Director (AZMD) responsible for Family Medicine in the Edmonton Zone and to the Edmonton Zone Medical Director (ZMD). The ZCDH for Family Medicine will work closely with the Executive Director (ED) responsible for Family Medicine using the AHS dyad model, and will be jointly responsible for providing integrated leadership for Family Medicine across the Edmonton Zone.

The ZCDH for Family Medicine is a Senior Medical Leadership role in the Edmonton Zone; providing leadership support to the AZMD, as well as supporting the vision of the Vice President and ZMD; contributing expert guidance and advice to matters within the Zone Clinical Department; and conducting rigorous performance management and quality improvement.

The current programs/sections within the Zone Clinical Department reporting to ZCDH are:

· Continuing Care

· Primary Care Obstetrics

· Hospital Medicine

· Academic Family Medicine

· Community Family Medicine

· Surburban Family Medicine

The Clinical Department of Family Medicine is comprised of approximately 700 community- and facility-based physicians integrated zone-wide across many diverse sites and programs. The Department partners with University institutions (ie. University of Alberta) to promote high quality medical education across the Edmonton Zone.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and a passion for quality and patient safety. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and considered to be a strong clinician by peers.

Candidates must be College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified or equivalent, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. Candidates should have evidence of formal administrative education and training.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
