The Medical Officer of Health (MOH) in the North Zone would be a Physician (Medical Doctor) eligible for licensure in Alberta, and have his/her FRCP(C) with specialty in Public Health and Preventive Medicine (or equivalent). Reporting to the Lead Medical Officer of Health in the North Zone, the MOH will have a leadership position within Alberta Health Services. Under the Public Health Act, the MOH has statutory responsibilities related to investigation and control of communicable diseases, infection prevention and control and environmental threats to the health of the population. The Medical Officer of Health (MOH) has the responsibility for bringing a public health/population health perspective to strategic and operational planning in the health system. This includes participation in the planning and delivery of health promotion, disease and injury prevention and emergency/disaster management initiatives. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Fort McMurray Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $12,480. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay.

Providing public health leadership and expertise as a Public Health Consultant. Demonstrated competence in the areas of communicable disease control and immunization programming. Developingand leading strategic initiatives applicable to population and public health matters. Working as the physician partner of the Public Health Directors and Managers in public health matters.

MD eligible for licensure in Alberta. FRCP(C) with specialty in Public Health and Preventive Medicine (or equivalent fellowship training). Experience in public health/preventive medicine, in the Canadian context. Experience in leadership, financial management, planning, and program development.
Minimum Salary: $82.77 Maximum Salary: $142.69
