Alberta Health Services (AHS), Edmonton Zone invites applications for the role of Zone Clinical Medical Lead, Family/Hospitalist Medicine – Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital (FSCH).

Responsibilities and Duties

This 0.10FTE position is governed by the Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules, reports directly to the Edmonton Zone Section Chief of Hospital Medicine and the FSCH Facility Medical Director. The successful candidate will assist the Zone Section Chief with quality issues as well as assisting the Facility Medical Director with operational matters.

This position works with the Facility Medical Director and the site director to support the new service delivery model for inpatient care at FSCH and collaborates with key PCNs in the Fort Saskatchewan area to provide high quality care within the community. The Medical Lead of Family/Hospital Medicine will establish strong working relationships with physicians to establish expectations required of physicians for the new care model, develop and implement metrics to measure those expectations, and provide feedback to the Facility Medical Director, Zone Section Chief, and other appropriate individuals regarding physician performance.

About the Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital

The Fort Saskatchewan Community Hospital is an acute care facility, located northeast of Edmonton, offering a range of acute and outpatient care including 24-hour emergency services, women’s health, and ophthalmology.

The successful applicant will have an interest in promoting a positive work culture at the Fort Saskatchewan Hospital as a whole. To this end, strong skills in communication, collaboration and a recognition of the importance of the patient and Provider Experience, is imperative.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated abilities in communication, conflict resolution and a passion for quality and patient safety. S/he will be an inclusive and visionary leader with significant experience in medical leadership and is considered a strong clinician by peers.

The successful candidate will possess superior interpersonal skills, have demonstrated supervisory experience and be an excellent clinician with the respect of his/her peers. The successful candidate also will be committed to fulfilling clinical and non-clinical duties as a representative of the Department of Family Medicine.

Candidates must be Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) or College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) certified, be eligible to work in Canada, and hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta and appointment to the AHS Medical Staff. There is a preference for candidates with formal administrative education and training.

Remuneration is in accordance with AHS contractor agreements.
