A minimum of eligibility for medical licensure within Alberta and preferably certified by the College of Family Physicians or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, plus a demonstrated successful leadership experience in the health care operations environment. Training and demonstrated success and leadership in healthcare institutional (preferably acute care) Infection Prevention and Control is required.
Additional skills and experience required for this role includes: Progressive senior leadership experience in a healthcare environment, including experience in a senior management role in clinical services or healthcare operations; successful record of achievement as a leader, including extensive experience in senior leadership of a large and diverse range of functions; utilizing strategic thinking, taking into account long-term goals assessing options and implications. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues.
Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others; possess a proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals within a large, diverse organization; and capable of fostering a climate of cooperation amongst, and build solid relationships with public agencies, government, boards, committees and other partners.
Ability to manage diverse human, financial and physical resources within a complex environment, in particular, managing within a unionized sector. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, patient-focused orientation and commitment to providing long term quality services.
